Janell Macek is a makeup artist local to Coeur d'Alene. She offers the following tips for wedding day makeup needs on her blog entry, quoted in-part below.

6 Months Before
  • Pick and stick with a good skin care regimen, don’t start tying a bunch of new products on your face after this time…you never know what results you might get good or bad.
  • Start getting monthly facials if you want or can afford it…This will ensure you face is in its best possible form.
  • Start drinking lots and lots of water if you haven’t already.
  • If you have skin problem areas consult with a dermatologist to find the best solution for the issue.

1 Month Before

  • Have a makeup trial run with your makeup artist to nail down your look and to make sure your skin doesn’t react negatively to any products used.

2 Weeks Before

  • Have the last facial before your big day, only if you have been having them regularly. Don’t have just one 2 weeks before if you're not used to them it could do more harm than good.

1 Week Before

  • Have your eyebrows professionally waxed and shaped.
  • Remove all other unwanted facial hair.

Janell brings up some good points that are always a good idea for anyone preparing to get married, or have video and photos taken. You want your skin to look its best. You want your preparations to be done early. It just won't do to try a new make-up the day of your wedding or your photo or video shoot, only to discover you're allergic to it. Nor will it do to have a facial the day before and wind up with a reaction the day of. Preparation is key so you will truly glow on your special day.
