This is a photo of the reflections on the standing water just south of Coeur d'Alene at Cougar Bay Wildlife Preserve. The preserve is located south of Coeur d’Alene, just off of Highway 95. Hikers who walk the trails of the this 88-acre preserve will discover a many varieties of wildlife along the northwest shore of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Cougar Bay is surrounded by coniferous forests and meadows, attracting many waterfowl, songbirds, moose, beaver, and deer. The Bureau of Land Management is currently working with an adjacent landowner on an easement which will allow construction of a new trail system. The new trails would extend the existing trails eastward and offer almost a full extra mile of trail, as well as even more views of the lake. Construction is expected to begin early in the summer of 2012.
